Paris Agreement

explanation

The Paris Agreement is an international treaty that was adopted in 2015 and signed by 196 parties at the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21) in Paris. It is a milestone in the fight against climate change as it is legally binding for all those nations. The main goal of the agreement is to keep the increase of the global average temperature below 2°C compared to pre-industrial levels. This goal will be reached through three main areas: 1) reduction of greenhouse gas emissions 2) adaptation to climate change and 3) financing to support climate action.
